Acclaimed singer-songwriter and film music composer Craig Wedren is a true renaissance man of music, having achieved success in a wide variety of musical styles and avenues. From 1986 to 1998 he fronted the genre-straddling Washington D.C. indie rock/post-hardcore band Shudder to Think, whose 1994 album Pony Express Record received widespread critical acclaim despite being the band’s first release after finally signing to a major record label.
Following the band’s split, Wedren went on to both successfully battle against Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and become a prolific composer of film and television scores, including Wet Hot American Summer, Laurel Canyon, School of Rock, Rodger Dodger, and the theme songs for Reno 911!, Stella and The Whitest Kids U’ Know. He’s also currently scoring the latest season of HBO’s Hung and Showtime’s United States of Tara.
In 2005 Wedren released his first solo album Lapland and next week he’ll be releasing his second solo effort, the self produced and home recorded Wand, where he’s already broken new musical ground by teaming up with director Tim Nackashi to create the 360° panoramic video for “Are We”, the first music video of its kind. The entire Wand project is a joint concept album and interactive film, with the second 360° panoramic video recently appearing on his website for “Crush You”.
